| About CrazyM Through the course of 2005 a number of things happened that impacted my life. One thing that came out of it all was a commitment to get back outside with a camera, something I had not done in quite some time. During the winter of that year the Boundary Bay area saw good numbers of Snowy Owls show up. This caught my attention and I spent several cold days out photographing these wonderful birds. That was it, I was hooked and thus started my venture into bird photography. You learn quickly that bird watching is one thing, bird photography is something else altogether. One still needs to become a bird watcher to learn how to identify different species, observe behaviour, study habitat, migration patterns, etc. Where bird photography differs from watching is that it will usually require one to be closer to your subjects than it would take to just observe or watch. You need to be able to do this without adversely impacting them and respecting their comfort zone. It takes time, patience and can be difficult, but it is these challenges I also enjoy. I strive to accomplish a few things with my bird photography. To obtain record shots of all the different species I encounter in their natural habitat and capture their behaviour and activities. Take the next step and get images that also have artistic qualities. The latest addition has been to work on photo series such as the Osprey and Great Horned Owl nests. This web site is a means to share with others a hobby and the great outdoors that provide me with much enjoyment. Jim Martin
