- Northern Saw-whet
Owl With Mouse Photo Series 1
- Series of photos showing a Northern Saw-whet Owl
with mouse it caught and eats. I first saw the Northern Saw-whet Owl
sleeping with the mouse in it's talons. I returned an hour later and
in time to watch the Owl eat the mouse. This took about half an hour
after which the Saw-whet Owl moved to a different branch and went
back to sleep.

From nest building and fixing, male courting the female with fish,
the pair mating and the arrival of three chicks. Of the three chicks,
only one survived and fledged.

nest over the course of an hour. Photos showing courting behavior,
the male leaving and the female working on the nest. Then showing
mating behavior when the male returns to the nest as the sun was going
down.
